Camp fires can and should be tons of fun for you and your family! Just remember, your safety is our number one concern and it should be yours as well when lighting, maintaining, cooking, and extinguishing camp fires!
When lighting a camp fire, please keep a safe distance away from where the fire will be and please do not use accelerants such as gas to enhance the flame, or start your fire. Children should never attempt or be allowed to start any type of fire!
Follow the Open Burning regulations when you maintain your fire! If your fire is too big...we will put it out! Fires located near dead grass, or leaves are never a good idea! Water should be used to wet the surrounding area when you have a fire to help prevent fire spread.
When cooking use proper utensils for cooking. Utensils should keep you and others a safe distance away from the open flame.
When extinguishing fires, use caution! If your fire has become too big for you to safely extinguish, please call the fire department! After you extinguish your fire, remember to spread the ashes around in your burn area to ensure all of the fire is out! Where there is smoke...THERE IS FIRE! Ashes that are still hot could lead to further injuries!
If you have any questions please call the fire station during normal business hours. |
